We believe in making a difference by providing opportunities to those in need and since the creation of FC TORO, we have been sponsoring one third of our players each year.
We currently support 100 kids of low economical ressources who attend all regular practices, participate in local and international tournaments and who receive additional assistance in whichever way needed including but not limited to: support for education, health care and housing. We also provide soccer uniforms and gears, transportation, and a meal at least once a week after practice.
When participating in local and international tournaments, 50% of our attending players are sponsored and all expenses related to their trip are taken up in full by FC TORO:

Paperwork handling (passport, visa when applicable);

Registration fee;

Transportation;

Accommodations and meals.
Every year we receive an increasing number of applicants for sponsorship. Selection is based on available positions in the Academy and is done through a series of tryouts before the start of the season, where the most performant are nominated to integrate the FC TORO Team.
During the initial phases of the 2016-2017 tryouts, 430 applicants born between 2001 and 2008 were evaluated at the FC TORO Academy.
The 2017-18 tryouts have exceeded are expectations with more than 800 new applicants born between 2001 and 2008 evaluated at the club. Detection process has been carried out in two phases: April-May (364 applicants) and August (443 applicants). 100 players in boys and girls categories have been retained for sponsorship by the Academy this season.

What matters the most is the attention that we give to those in need. This is what makes giving so powerful.
By this simple act of LOVE, we help others get in touch with their worthiness, it helps them understand their self value and hence helps them tap in to their capacity to be and give their BEST!
This is the channel through which TRUE TALENT reveals itself.
Over the past years, we have had the benefit to watch our sponsored kids evolve despite their circumstances, and overcome various personal challenges. We are happy to see them develop and maintain a high level of performance on the field and demonstrate a positive attitude towards life. In certain cases, they find themselves in a position to give back. Two of our sponsored athletes volunteered to help at an orphanage during the summer.
FC TORO AND THE COMMUNITY
FC TORO's community involvement has led to the development of a wonderful relationship with the communities where our players practice: Sainte-Therese in Petion-Ville at the heart of our activities, Saint-Vincent de Paul in Thomassin and in particular Sainte-Marie in Canape-Vert, where our staff, parents and kids feel at home.
